Social and Economic Relief Organization (SERO) is an independent, nongovernmental, non-political, and non-profit organization, whose journey began in the early 1990s under the name of ELP – English Language Program and later as Ghairat Educational Institute (GEI).Founded by a network of talented and educated Afghans in Peshawar, our main purpose was to provide quality and professional education services to Afghan refugees in exile.
Over time, our services expanded beyond Peshawar and we established the Hilal Educational Center (HEC) in Kabul. HEC successfully implemented various integrated projects, including education, vocational training, mental health and psychosocial support, advocacy, and literacy. These projects were funded by organizations such as the US Embassy, British Embassy, GIZ, the Womanity Foundation, and other generous donors.
In 2022, SERO was officially registered with the Ministry of Economy to continue our journey in a broader scope and more effective manner. This registration comes at a crucial time when the need for humanitarian services is higher than ever, and communities are deeply affected, shocked, and vulnerable due to various factors. At SERO, we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities in need. Through our various programs and initiatives, we strive to provide relief, support, and opportunities for growth and development. Together with our dedicated team and valued partners, we aim to create lasting change and contribute to a brighterfuture for all.
